The guest speaker for the meeting will be, John J. Matousek from the Michigan DEQ. He will be discussing Mussels in the Flat River Watershed.
John has been an Aquatic Biologist with the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) for the past 7 years. He has degrees in Fisheries from Michigan State University and Humboldt State University and has focused his education and experience on invertebrate identification and biology. Some of his many job duties with the State of Michigan include conducting invertebrate biological surveys, fish collections, and environmental sampling and monitoring. John’s past work experience includes biologist positions with Michigan State University, Michigan Natural Features Inventory, and Cardno Entrix, a private environmental consultant.
John was born and now currently still resides in Owosso Michigan. He enjoys all things hunting and fishing and spends much of his free time on the water.
