Living the Mission
Watershed Based Experiences and Stewardship
Living the Mission (LtM) is an outreach program of the Lower Grand River Organization of Watersheds (LGROW) that provides hands-on environmental education and stewardship opportunities for students attending schools in disadvantaged communities or schools that serve those communities throughout the Lower Grand River Watershed.
What is Living the Mission?
In the spring of 2025, LGROW was awarded funding from the Great Lakes Fishery Trust (GLFT) to expand place-based stewardship education (PBSE) in the watershed. With this funding, LGROW implemented a brand new PBSE project called “Living the Mission” (LtM).
LtM focuses on working with students from schools in disadvantaged communities or schools that serve disadvantaged communities. Students begin with watershed-based education and learn about the many threats facing our water bodies; they also learn about potential solutions to water quality issues and how they can get involved.
In short, LtM seeks to take students from watershed learning to watershed stewardship.
