Join us via Facebook Live (@Lower Grand River Organization of Watersheds - LGROW) as we begin the 18th Annual LGROW Spring Forum with acknowledgement and celebration of the Indigenous people of our watershed. The Lower Grand River Watershed is the beautiful ancestral land of the Hopewell people, and later the Anishinaabek People of the Three Fires (The Odawa, Ojibwe, and Potawatomi). We have much to learn from these Native nations, whose connection to the lands and waters of the Grand River go far deeper than viewing the river as an economic or recreational resource. We are grateful for the Native People who are still here and who show us what it means to love, respect, and care for the water, the land, and the creatures of this place. We thank them for sharing this place with us.
We hope you are inspired by the beautiful connections to the river that the Native nations model for us and begin to build your own connections to the Grand River over the next 11 days. Please join us for opportunities to Learn, Help, and Explore this beautiful place we are so fortunate to call home.
